What is Obama going to do about the patiot act?

Well it's finally almost time for Obama to take office. The Patriot act is just one Bush's rotten leftovers. Is Obama going to restore civil liberties? What is Obama going to do about the patiot act? He's keeping everything and turning the military into a shelter for gays. What is Obama going to do about the patiot act?
I believe he's talked about amending it and getting rid of some of the more blatantly bad ones (as far as infringing on our basic rights) but unfortunately he isn't talking about completely repealing it. Unfortunate. The Patriot Act was the signal of the beginning of Bush trampling all over Americans' most basic rights (furthered by the illegal wiretapping, classifying Americans as enemy combatants and putting them in Guantanmo indefinitely etc. ) ... hopefully Obama will make long inroads into restoring our most cherished rights. What is Obama going to do about the patiot act?Use it to spy on rich Americans who visit prostitutes in Thailand and China
Obama already signed off on the Patriot Act during the last vote. He also signed on to support the wiretapping, that he originally said he would oppose. What is Obama going to do about the patiot act?Yes President Obama has devoted his life to Constitutional Law and he will work to do what is in the best interest of the American people. What is Obama going to do about the patiot act?
He already caved to FISA and the Patriot Act.

That isn't change. That is keeping things the same.
If I were him, I'd use it to get myself elected and then I'd use it to stay in the Presidency and assert my powerWhat is Obama going to do about the patiot act?
I know he wants to change it into less of a blatant proclamation of apocalyptic doom.

There is no way in hell that that ******* dictator is ever going to restore civil liberties here though.
I hope it will be repealed or at the very least the really intrusive parts taken out.

I voted for Obama with the confidence that he would give back some of our civil liberties.

Let's hope that he does so.
Obama changed his mind on this Patriot act? but what else is new
The Patriot Act is by far Bush's only success.

Your Phone call vs. possibility of another 911. Your one petty phone call Vs. the lives of thousands.

Are your "rights" THAT important to you? So important that you would inhibit the government from trying to prevent another massacre?

I hope you say no.

The Patriot act is necessary and must stand.

"America has been protected not by luck but by sensible policy decisions," -Vice President Cheney.

And don't worry, the Exclusionary Rule protects any criminals from being 'wrongly prosecuted' with evidence obtained by phone taps.

As if catching ANY criminal were a bad thing....
Obama has come to understand that GW knows what he is doing when it comes to National Security and Obama is going to leave the Patriot Act pretty much as it is.

After 911 , no successful Terrorist attack on U.S. Soil !!!!!

Thank you GW
Please do not accept everything the Media says as gospel. Contrary to what the media says, our rights have not been trampled on. As far as the wiretapping, it was NEVER used to listen in on everyone's conversations. The very idea is ludicrous when you consider how many telephone conversations occur every second. The wiretapping was used when a raid would occur and a phone number of suspected terrorists was discovered. In those cases, the authorities had only a few hours to get what information they could on this line before the news of the raid was known and they stopped using that line. It takes much longer to obtain a warrant. As far as Americans in Gitmo, the only one I know of is the kid who renounced his American citizenship and went to fight with the Taliban. Therefore, when he was captured FIGHTING Americans, he was taken to a military base.
no, hes going to take them away and what I hate about him the most is that he is going to tax coal companies out of existence which is going to take away alot of jobs and buy from other countries also making your electric bill higher, gas prices higher, etc..
