Reforming NCLB (No Child Left Behind) will not work and at the same time going to war with countries (he believes that Iran is dangerous for nuclear weapons), developing debt in the recession we are in and therefore being unable to fund education. In addition, his Universal Health care plan will leave a large population not insured. Also, he believes that the insurance companies to fund this plan, which gives the power to the major corporations rather than to the people, which a single-payer plan would do. Obama is not progressive, as his "change" message makes people think. I do not agree with most of Obama's polices because he doesn't understand how ordinary people in America feel like and is not promising any change. Reforming NCLB (No Child Left Behind) will not work and at the same time going to war with countries (he believes that Iran is dangerous for nuclear weapons), developing debt in the recession we are in and therefore being unable to fund education. In addition, his Universal Health care plan will leave a large population not insured. Also, he believes that the insurance companies to fund this plan, which gives the power to the major corporations rather than to the people, which a single-payer plan would do. Obama is not progressive, as his "change" message makes people think. I was just listening to a published author on NPR who wrote a book on the subject of political candidates. He wrote about a study that showed that most people who follow a particular candidate or another are first IDENTIFYING with that candidate, and then subconsciously justifying their decision.
In other words, people don't think first, they become enamored with a candidates charisma and then find reasons to support their decision. Obama's got a lot of charisma, and he's a very good public speaker. However, his voting record does NOT support what I feel is a sensible, honest candidate, and his political platform (the issues in which he believes) is not the basis of a sound government.
Check out Ron Paul on Youtube. He believes in America minding its own business, and a limited government.

Obama's plan to boost the economy through increased spending on public works projects is a joke. How many schools will have to be built? We we be replacing all of the schools that were closed due to declining enrollment? How many roads can we build? These are meant to be union jobs. These are the kinds of projects that drain the economy through higher property taxes and road tolls. Who is he kidding? This is a temporary fix and will ultimately leave the taxpayer holding the bag. Thanks but no thanks.

He got laid off and is on unemployment. His wife works, but with two young children, they've had to "go on the county" (aka welfare, food stamps, etc). Their consumption of anything but absolute necessities is nill. Now, multiple this by several million and you'll see why the economy is in this mess.
The government puts in public works projects, and he gets a job. They can get off welfare and/or food stamps, they can start paying taxes, and they can buy things other than basic necessities. Now, multiply this buy several million people, watch true discretionary spending increase, and then watch things become much easier.

Right now, I'm disgusted with him because he is stalling on the Phil Berg lawsuit asking the court to verify that he is indeed a natural born citizen. If Obama is who he says he is, why can't he just produce the birth certificate to the court? Why are he and the DNC investing huge amounts of time writing motions to dismiss and motions to protect them from "discovery"? It would be a lot easier to JUST SHOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT!! Does that mean it will convert to diesel and then give the opportunity to recharge at the next fill-up or are these small trucks? The last I heard, large trucks for transporting goods would be built to run on natural gas. At this point, I don't see much future for a truck that runs 100 miles on batteries. If this is our future, I can see a lot of expensive, multiple changes in tooling within a very short period of time.
While I'm sure this will put some people to work, why don't they take some time to think this through? This will be done with stimulus money. Is it going to be government owned or a loan to convert an RV factory? That is a big question about the ground work they are laying.

Why in the world would you expect McCain, who yesterday was saying that there is too much regulation to become the McCain of today that is calling for strict regulation? I am a middle class black woman and I own a business and I am not voting for Obama. I consider myself to be more conservative and therefore I will more than likely vote on the independent right. I do not agree with his democratic policies in general. Including I do not think big government is best for the country, not just black people . He repeatedly says he will raise taxes. I also hear everything he says about universal healthcare but he will have no choice except to raise taxes to pay for this.
As a business owner, I do not agree with this blanket statement that taxes should be raised on businesses. I feel that will make it harder for me to retain employees. How does that help black unemployment? I don't agree with his immigration policy. I feel illegal immigrants should not be granted amnesty. I think we need someone in office who is an experienced businessman who understands the outdated role of the Federal Reserve, that the dollar will soon be an outdated currency because currencies only last so long, and that the current tax laws need to be trashed and totally revamped and simplified so the average american can understand them. Obama up until 2006 voted with the current administration for the war. He was not in the u.s. senate for the initial vote to invade, but why were his subsequent votes yea instead of nay? Black or not I do not believe he is the best candidate. Politics without economics is a symbol without substance.
