Why does Obama lie about the percentage of people who want a tax increase?

Obama says 80% of people want a tax increase as part of the debt limit increase. Every poll I've seen shows that the majority don't want a tax increase. Obama is either lying or he is completely over his head and making things up as he goes. Which is better? Why does Obama lie about the percentage of people who want a tax increase?I dont even listen to the guy any more I know everything he says is either half true or untrue. Why does Obama lie about the percentage of people who want a tax increase?
Technically, anything that's not "only with spending cuts" supports a tax increase. That means 30% + 32% + 7% + 4% = 73%, so he's not far off. Besides, the tax increases he's referring to are for people who make OVER $212,000 a year. Considering this is the top tier of income in the US, (the top 5%), it would actually take care of a massive chunk of the American deficit, while not affecting the top 5%'s quality of life (as adversely as a tax increase on the disappearing middle class would.)

Alternately, you could HALF your military spending, spend an extra $150 BILLION on NASA (increasing their budget by 100 times what was just cut from it, and mail EVERY American citizen a cheque for $500, and STILL have the largest defense budget in the world by a factor of 3! Yes, the United States spends SIX TIMES as much on military funding as the next closest country. (Currently at the expense of it's own citizens welfare.)

The solutions are available, the American people just have to be willing to look at the ways it can make use of them. Why does Obama lie about the percentage of people who want a tax increase? The problem is....if Obama promises cuts in spending will he actually follow through? Historically, once a spending program is passed it is extremely difficult to get it canceled. And will these tax increases be permanent also? And will any money left over be used to pay off the debt, or will it just be used for more spending programs (again, historically we can't seem to keep a balanced budget).

And to those folks who want to give Clinton credit for the budget during his term, why do you always forget that the Republicans controlled congress during his term, and (according to Obama) they get credit for the spending problems? I guess they don't get the credit when it's actually in good shape, eh?
Not sure where you are getting the 80% number, and you need to link to a source showing that Obama said it.

Here's a compilation of polls showing that directionally, your claim of Obama's claim is indeed fact.

5 separate polls (at least 4 of which are non-partisan) agree directionally that the majority of Americans think that the Bush tax cuts should expire for the top bracket and/or that tax increases should be part of deficit reduction. Why does Obama lie about the percentage of people who want a tax increase?..."Barry Soetoro" (...you seem to know him by his Political name...Obama) is a Professional Political "Obfuscator" ! He is an unaccomplished, narcissistic, egotistical, neo - Socialists... a tax %26amp; waste entitlement PIMP ! (this is why he surrounds himself with 40+ unelected political Czars) He has the Military expertise of a "Garden Slug" ! (side by side, he can't tell the difference between a US Navy Officer from a Coast Guard Officer !) ...and he is the Political "toy" of his puppet Master, George Soros !Why does Obama lie about the percentage of people who want a tax increase?
Because he's a child that wants to get his way and will say anything to do so! adn for the people that say he didnt say it and there isn't proof look at the sources.. thank you and I have to add that you are a fool if you believe that he will only raise taxes on rich people accept one and the rest will follow... first the rich, then the middle class, then the poor get nothing.

"You have 80 percent of the American people who support a balanced approach," to reduce federal deficits with new tax revenue as well as spending cuts, Mr. Obama said in a press conference. "That鈥檚 not just Democrats," he emphasized. "That鈥檚 [also] the majority of Republicans."
80% probably a little high but numerous polls show that the majority of Americans believe a tax increase on the upper 2% is a good idea. Polls in favor ran from 57% in favor to 72% in favor.

That is an actual statistic you moron. Most Americans want to see the taxes go up on the rich. They have been given a free ride for over 30 years and people are tired of it. Why don't you have any proof to back up your claims?

Getting desperate eh?
Because a lie is the only justification he has to raise taxes. You just don't raise taxes during a recession.
Where are the Jobs that have been promised by the "Tax Break Defenders".
What are the "Job Creators" waiting for? The second coming of Reagan?
Since Obama cited a source and you don't, I'll wait for another opinion to possibly sway me from my original thoughts...
he uses different math than anybody managing a household. and we wonder why we are bankrupt.

usual lies to keep his liberal team in line. of course you know they will not verify the numbers.
He can't go 5 seconds without telling a lie or grossly exaggerating something.
You're leaving out the part about raising taxes on the rich not the middle class and poor.
Both are true. He cannot distinguish ordinary lies from ordinary BS.
He lies about everything
You're asking why democrats lie? The same reason dogs bark, cats meow, and cows moo, that's what they do.
He has lied so much and so often he believes his lies !
Where does he get that sht? He didn't ask any of the conservatives in the nation and I promise there is more than 20%
Site your source
