I voted for Obama and glad he's being declared the winner, but wondering why it's being assumed the western states will go to Obama.How can Obama be declared a winner if Western states did not report even half of their results?i think statisticians thought he won. before every state is 100 percent finished with voting, statisticians make predictions on who will win for each state. depending on a lot of mathematical things. also, they said on cnn that he had majority of north eastern, north, and west states already cause of campaigning. just my opinion.How can Obama be declared a winner if Western states did not report even half of their results?

Not being assumed. He already got enough electoral votes to win. (each state is worth so many electoral votes. when one candidate wins in that state they get that number of votes to decide who wins) So it doesnt matter much what the western states vote. Because whatever they vote wont put Mcain ahead. With Obama having like 220 electoral votes before we even got to the Western States and with 55-delegate--democratic-lock California still coming up it was basically over even if he won nothing else but California. Had McCain even won one of his must have states it could have lasted longer but he couldnt even win republican stongholds like Va. Heck he barely won his own state.
