How much of my money is Obama gonna send to the earthshake victims in NZ?

...and I put this in the imaginary friend section because I wanted all you to ask your imaginary friend to quit it with all these earthshakes already...every time he gets mad at a country Obama has to send hundreds of millions of dollars to fix what god keeps on breakin' say a prayer would ya ?How much of my money is Obama gonna send to the earthshake victims in NZ?That is technically (scientifically) an aftershock of the September 3, 2010 Darfield, NZ 7.0 earthquake, so it doesn't really count.

Maybe if the Evangelical Party (Republican) quits giving the ultra rich big tax breaks, we can get some positive cash flow some day.How much of my money is Obama gonna send to the earthshake victims in NZ?all of it!!! Obama doesn't know printing more money, doesn't mean you actually have more money. He'll bailout the world by printing more money. How much of my money is Obama gonna send to the earthshake victims in NZ?he will give all the money to anyone who asks and then when we really need money and someone asks him where it all is,he will say "i dunno".anybody miss bush yet?

Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol?

Many Obama supporters are bitter for the rising of food prices knowing Obama is a strong supporter of corn ethanol. Obama is good at blaming people and stealing people ideas or should i say pragmatic. He lacks innovation ideas. A great leader must have rocket science idea like FDR, Reagan, lincoln, etc something obama lacks. That has to come with great experience. Sorry to say, but Obama will take the U.S to depression.Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol?Sorry, your facts are wrong.

First, the use of corn ethanol was part of the BUSH energy plan.

Second, one of the major reasons why food, and many other goods are increasing in price is because of the increase in gas prices. The introduction of more corn ethanol is intended to lower gas prices.

Perhaps you could actually take a little time and find a way to attack Obama (since that's all you are really trying to do anyway), that actually has some kind of logical foundataion.Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol?
Not me, it is more the fault of the current and past US Presidents, pandering to farmers.

"President Bush on Friday defended his emphasis on ethanol to help the nation meet its energy needs even though increased production of the corn-based biofuel has been blamed for contributing to sharp increases in food prices."

May 2008Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol? How is Obama the faulth of rising food prices when BUSH is in office. Higher gas prices means higher everything else including food because someone has to deliver it. Will you people wait until Obama reaches the White House before you blame the devastation that this country is going through and facing on him PLEASE. If he voted for corn ethanol then GO Obama I don't know about you, but I can not afford $10 gal. gas
Haha. But harsh to jump there.

The reason food prices are increased is due to the increasing prices to petrol (by oil) because of the world's addition to the black gold.

Actually, educate yourself on how Obama has credible plans to reduce America on foreign Oil via investment in Alaskan oil and mainly via green energy programmes.

Silly short-sighted Republican.

More more years? No thanks.Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol?Food prices are rising rapidly all over the whole world. Including in countries that have no ethanol and which don't export to the US.

A few years of droughts, floods, cyclones, hurricanes, wild fires and tidal waves are the major cause, along with numerous undeclared wars.Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol?
We are going into a Republican depression anyway because of insane conservative trickle down economics. Fuel cost makes up the biggest part of food cost increases. Thanks to people like Obama and FDR we will not have soup lines like we had in the Republican great depression.
Ummm... Where is all this corn ethanol that has been gobbling up the corn supply? I don't know of ANYWHERE that sells E85. It's a great big lie that ethanol production is contributing to food shortages.Who thinks Obama is at fault for the rising food prices by voting yes on corn ethanol?
Bush is already taking us to a depression. Thats why McCain is not going to win. We can not take another Republican in office.

Obama 08
Food prices and gas prices are being raised every day due to obama and the tree huggers.
Nope that would be Daddy Bush -- He open a Corn ethanol plant about two years ago.
Not Obama, but certainly the liberal tree huggers.
Obama is for bio fuels - he would do anything to prevent drilling, but he's WRONG!

So are people that say bros before hos.
I do. He has stated that he thinks gas prices need to go up. And he says this as gas passes the 4/gallon mark
not me.

2 pts.

The U.S is already in a depression with Bush.

How exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?

Will he all of sudden not be a liberal anymore if elected President? Will he all of sudden turn into a WASP when/if he becomes President?

Obama has some good things say but the only thing he's going to be uniting is his own party if/when he wins the nomination. How exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?Obama can united both parties because he is, by virtue of his color, the bridge to both parties. He is the evidence of the level of changes that can be affected by a democratic and liberal government.

The Right-Wing conservatives will have to come to the middle of the road in their political thinking. If Obama is elected, Government will be showing the evidence of what effective change really is. The republicans will have to start being a little more liberal-minded in order to show us that they, too, can effect changes that will improve lives.

There isn't much evidence of improvement of life in the last 7 years with the Republicans in the White House. In fact, I believe it will take us decades to clean up the mess that Bush has made of our country.

The republicans were against Civil Rights. Civil Rights Laws, initiated and fought for by the democratic "liberals", is why Obama is able to run for President in the first place. Republicans will have to accept that Enrons, Haliburton, and all those who padded their pockets at the expense of stolen retirement funds, inflated stock values, and human lives in Iraq, will no longer be tolerated by the Commander In Chief.

No more cowboys in the White House! How exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?
He cant win...Hillary willHow exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?by opening the market, whites(republicans) dating black(democrats) and vise a verse. Same with Latino puerto ricans(democrats) dating whites, blacks and mixed Latin's(republicans)
who knows? How exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?By your logic, how can ANY person unite the country?

Let's just not try, we'll all be better off! (sarcasm)How exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?
He listens to Republican ideas. He's willing to work with Republican leaders. He considers all points of view and tries to find answers that are mutually beneficial. Not all people buy into the idea that those who think differently from you are your enemies.
Exactly; politicians say what they believe other people want to hear. How exactly is a Democrat like Obama going to supposedly unite a 2 political party country like the US?
He will win people over with his charm and smile... just like Bill Clinton did 16 years ago.
his not.. if he wins.a lot of democrats are going to get on the republican bandwagon
No you are right he won't become conservative but unfortunateley alot of people in the US vote W/ there hearts and not their brain! We can thank the MSM for this.
using his mob ties
He won't. He can't beat Clinton.
they don't use complete sentences how would any of the politicians cooperate? poly-tic
Bringing people together does not mean that 100% of the population will agree with him. But he should do better than what we have now. If he wins and has a Democratic congress, it should be expected that Democratic principles will be more common. However, he should get input from the other side. Find goals and solutions that are in all our interest. There is much both sides can agree on.

It is easy to work with politicians on the other side. It is harder to get support from the general population on the other side. Kenedy and Reagan were good at that. Hopefully, Obama, in his own way, will be as well.
he isnt. the democratic and republican party are like two kids. they each draw their line in the sand and dare each other to cross over
It's a socialist fairy tale.

He just says what (dumb) people want to hear about hope, dreams, the future. He seems like a socialist to me. He would force things upon people; perhaps that is what all the uniting is about!
B/c HE HAS A HISTORY OF WORKING WITH REPUBLICANS AND INDEPENDENTS. Here are some bi-partisan bills he wrote:

Keep Americans Warm Act of 2007

This legislation would provide an additional $1 billion in emergency funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program to ensure that millions of low-income families, senior citizens, and disabled Americans are able to heat their homes, keep their lights on, and cook their food during the coldest months of the year.

The Fuel Economy Reform Act of 2006

To reduce gas consumption by half a trillion gallons by 2028. It would enable domestic manufacturers to develop advanced-technology vehicles by giving them tax incentives. The bill would lift the current 60,000-per-manufacturer cap on buyer tax credits to allow more Americans to buy ultra-efficient vehicles.

Education Opportunity Act

Make grants available to low-income high school students to earn college credit at their local university or community college.

Amended Department Homeland Security

The amendment bars Department of Homeland Security from awarding contracts and grants of more than $5 million to federal contractors, so they have to pay taxes.

Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act

This act requires the full disclosure of all entities or organizations receiving federal funds beginning 2007 on a website,, maintained by the Office of Management and Budget. The website opened in December 2007 as a result of the FFAT act of 2006.

Hate Crimes - Matthew Sheppard Act

Is a proposed federal bill that would expand the 1969 United States federal hate-crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

Lobbying and Ethics Reform

Creates strict bans on receiving gifts and meals from lobbyists; new rules to slow the revolving door between public and private sector service; and an end to the subsidized use of corporate jets. The bill would create an outside ethics commission to receive complaints from the public on alleged ethics violations by members of Congress, staff, and lobbyists.

That's how he's going to unite the parties. He's a great mediator!

  • How long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama?

We all know that questions critical of Obama, gay marriage, illegal aliens get banned all the time by the staff at YA. How quickly will they flip and go the other way? It is bound to happen - what do you think? How long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama? That's a good question! I'm critical of both the D %26amp; R parties being independent, but only really get beat up by some pretty mean D party zealots and I used to be a D back in the day! Kinda tells ya something doesn't it?

-Individualist Anarchist / LibertarianHow long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama?
Many people who write questions, give answers and mange this forum have no critical thinking skills, They think with their emotions and thus can be persuaded by just about anything. Remember, if you stand for nothing you will fall for anything. How long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama?Get over it. Everybody here in gets nailed equally. I once recieved two best answers and one Yahoo nasty gram within an hour of each other.
i really think it depends on who is working/who is on here to determine who gets reported. How long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama?I've answered lots of questions that are critical of Obama and gay marriage. (Not so much on illegal aliens but only because that's not a topic I find particularly interesting or important.)

I think maybe it's the way you are asking the questions that might be getting your questions taken down. So I don't think you should hold your breath for the "staff flip". I think you should take this as a signal that it's time for a "YOU" flip! How long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama?
Everyone is going to be shocked. Obama will do nothing he promised. I think people are realizing their hopes and dreams being shattered. Obama was a good speaker, that is it.
The Liberal American public likes to build people up and place them on a pedestal and then kick the pedestal out from under them.

I'd say 2-3 months depending on what he does out of the gate. He's already back pedaled on tax breaks, timeline in Iraq, and many other things. Looks to me like those bad old chickens have come home to roost before he's even taken office. In short, his campaign promises were just lies on top of more lies. How long into Obama's Presidency do you think people at YA will start flipping and ban pos. questions of Obama?
they wont - You have to understand a Liberal and the elitist mentality and dont worry Obama will overreach and quickly all he is doing is setting things up - He is a salesman and well any good sales man knows that you must place certain things in order first so when you go for your goal you have leway to play with - It is only true conservatives that can stop them all before it is too late - but we will have to respone quickly and effectively - Know your enemy and keep them close my friend
You are right on that one!! It's crazy, I guess those that screamed the loudest about the freedom of speech didn't mean it for everybody!!
YA can lick my festering hemorrhoids.

What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America?

Living in Asia, we don't seem to get it when it comes to Obama (or at least I don't). I certainly must have missed something. What exactly does he stand for? Yes, he talks of change but what kind of change? And how does he plan to do it? So far I'm getting a much clearer picture of what Hilary plans to do (she keeps talking about it whenever I catch her on TV) but Obama is still an enigma. What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America?Jimmy Carter, the sequel.

*What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America?
Asia, Obama is so busy fighting off attacks that it is difficult to get his message out. However he has stated that how he plans to do it is by appointing fair judges and such and by not dealing with lobbyists and corporations who pay for legislation that will help them but f-ck the average American. If you really want to know what he's about it's all on the web (and I don't mean the smear sh-t). If you seek to discredit, him, just do that and don't act like you can't tell what he stands for. What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America?I would sit here a type a bunch of information on where Obama stands on the issues, but that takes time and I don't want to speak for the man himself.

    Here is a link:鈥?/a>

    I hope this helps.

By the way, all of these comments talking about how Obama is a racist is dumb, if anyone is racist it's the american people for making the issue relevant.

Obama is not a socialist, he is a very liberal democrat that believes in equality by taxing the rich, not the middle-class. Most people fail to pay attention to these issues because they can't stop calling him either a racist or a muslim, but of which are not true. Even if he were a muslim, I wouldn't care, but since a majority of the American people are ignorant and just want to discriminate based upon supposid affiliation with 'radicals', you can't help but to pay attention to the concern.

    It's sad, but that's humanity.
He stands for everything the democratic party stands for. Not only that but he has the ability to compromise and get things done because he has chosen to fund his campaign trough private citizens rather than taking large amounts of money from special interests and other large donners that would be expecting some sort of 'kick back' for their enormous lump sum donations.

If you've honestly been listening to what he's been saying this is the "change" he is talking about. He explains it so often. How is he going to do it? he has already started. By funding his campaign from small private donations from grass roots supporters, and new members of the democratic party.

He will be listening to the needs of YOU the people, instead of only those who have a large enough sum of money to contribute. That is the 'change' he stands for. that is what he has explained on many many occasions. anyone who doesn't know what he means by 'change' hasn't been paying attention. What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America? That's part of the problem; we can't really tell what he stands for, and for all his eloquent speeches, he hasn't really told us; nor has he explained exactly HOW he will change anything. Obama has already divided many Americans with the racist remarks of his pastor, Jeremiah Wright. He has further divided us by making elitist comments against poor working class people. He is basically a socialist; he wants to appease and negotiate with terrorists, thereby compromising our national security; that is probably the reason Europeans seem to like him so much. They can have him. McCain 08.What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America?
you seem to be as clueless as those of us here in the states. We get to see and hear him speak in circles all the time on the news. He says a lot, and very eloquently, but doesn't say anything at all.

He has been very vague as to what changes he wants, either b/c he doesn't know how to do what he wants or b/c he knows they are so radical that he wouldn't stand a chance of being elected.
Who is this collective "we" who don't "get it" in Asia? If you can get to Yahoo, you can get to Obama's website. Under issues, click on "the blueprint for change" and it will bring up a PDF that explains it all issue by issue. What exactly does Obama stand for and what will he do for America?
Obama just talks a lot because when he gets into the white house (God forbid) his idea of "change" isnt going to do a thing and then all the democrats are going to turn on him and claim that they didnt vote for him.
No offense, but living in Asia. . .does it really concern you? And if you truly feel it does, going to Y! answers is not going to give you the information you need to truly be informed.
We all ask the same thing, he stands for blacks and Muslims but denies both so your guess is as good as any ones take this line he said, This is a great nation we live in join me as we change it!!? all i can says is what an idiot
    1) blacks

    2) socialism

    3) corrupt friends...he will ruin America!
Haven't you read the news? He stands for hope and change. He hopes he can pull the wool over America's eyes so he can change the President from George Bush to good ole Barry Hussein Obama.
    Nothing and Nothing
Obama stands for Socialism and Blacks.

    If he wins,

racism will be back for good.
Obama stands for Robin Hood tax programs, unfortunately he thinks most American are rich.
Obama is full of empty promises and Islam. Neither of those things are good for America.
    Hoodwinking and bamboozling.
He stands for racism and to destroy America !!
I don't think he knows what he stands for. I personally don't trust him. He seems weak, very weak.
im not quite sure he repeats education and health care alot and only compliments the state hes in at the time like duh were all listening dude not just that state i dont think he knows what hes doing
His every day stump speech: "Hope... ever body needs hope; hope is good. On the other hand I understand those who do not have hope."

    What did Obama just say?
    Absolutely NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!
Obama is a Marxist Socialist lying pandering Politician! Thats all you need to know!
Less an enigma than a bag of empty promises. He doesn't know himself.

    Shine Light on Washington Lobbying

Centralize Ethics and Lobbying Information for Voters: Obama will create a centralized Internet database of lobbying reports, ethics records, and campaign finance filings in a searchable, sortable and downloadable format.

Require Independent Monitoring of Lobbying Laws and Ethics Rules: Obama will use the power of the presidency to fight for an independent watchdog agency to oversee the investigation of congressional ethics violations so that the public can be assured that ethics complaints will be investigated.

Support Campaign Finance Reform: Obama supports public financing of campaigns combined with free television and radio time as a way to reduce the influence of moneyed special interests. Obama introduced public financing legislation in the Illinois State Senate, and is the only 2008 candidate to have sponsored Senator Russ Feingold鈥檚 (D-WI) tough bill to reform the presidential public financing system.

Shine the Light on Federal Contracts, Tax Breaks and Earmarks

Create a Public "Contracts and Influence" Database: As president, Obama will create a "contracts and influence" database that will disclose how much federal contractors spend on lobbying, and what contracts they are getting and how well they complete them.

Expose Special Interest Tax Breaks to Public Scrutiny: Barack Obama will ensure that any tax breaks for corporate recipients - or tax earmarks - are also publicly available on the Internet in an easily searchable format.

End Abuse of No-Bid Contracts: Barack Obama will end abuse of no-bid contracts by requiring that nearly all contract orders over $25,000 be competitively awarded.

Sunlight Before Signing: Too often bills are rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them. As president, Obama will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days.

Shine Light on Earmarks and Pork Barrel Spending: Obama鈥檚 Transparency and Integrity in Earmarks Act will shed light on all earmarks by disclosing the name of the legislator who asked for each earmark, along with a written justification, 72 hours before they can be approved by the full Senate.

Bring Americans Back into their Government

Hold 21st Century Fireside Chats: Obama will bring democracy and policy directly to the people by requiring his Cabinet officials to have periodic national broadband townhall meetings to discuss issues before their agencies.

Make White House Communications Public: Obama will amend executive orders to ensure that communications about regulatory policymaking between persons outside government and all White House staff are disclosed to the public.

Conduct Regulatory Agency Business in Public: Obama will require his appointees who lead the executive branch departments and rulemaking agencies to conduct the significant business of the agency in public, so that any citizen can watch these debates in person or on the Internet.

Release Presidential Records: Obama will nullify the Bush attempts to make the timely release of presidential records more difficult.

Free the Executive Branch from Special Interest Influence

Close the Revolving Door on Former and Future Employers: No political appointees in an Obama administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration.

Free Career Officials from the Influence of Politics: Obama will issue an executive order asking all new hires at the agencies to sign a form affirming that no political appointee offered them the job solely on the basis of political affiliation or contribution.

Reform the Political Appointee Process: FEMA Director Michael Brown was not qualified to head the agency, and the result was a disaster for the people of the Gulf Coast. But in an Obama administration, every official will have to rise to the standard of proven excellence in the agency鈥檚 mission.
He is the representitive of the black population. He chits on the little man or the middle class man, forgets about the poor people and only wants to help "african americans" or his rich neighboors. He only wants to fight with his opponents and not ignore their comments and talk about what he really plans on doing. Be thankful you live in Asia and not our slowly deminishing country. I dont think any of our candidates are worth voting for honestly thats why I am not voting. They all suck and will suck as presidents. It wouldnt suprise me if obama was shot by a black man and hillary was shot by her on kind as well. Poor McCain he wont remember getting into office much less remember what his job is supposed to be.
He has a very detailed plan, let me give you the link

click on blueprint for change. You will need the free Adobe Reader if you don't have it, but you probably do.

Also below it are synopses of the plans elements if you don't have the time to read the entire plan.
Duh...He stands for Hope and he will bring Change.

And that is pretty much the extent of his campaign.
He stands for 'hope' and 'change'. And hopefully, he'll make some changes.

What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?

Obama health plan to cost $75 billion provide health insurance for 95 percent of Americans. I know Hillary has been working on that issue over 10 years. What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?Obama's is a little closer to a single payer system, where as clintons is not. All in all, under obama's plan people and small businesses are subsidized if they participate in the federal program, under clinton's plan you can be subsidized no matter the program. There are pros and cons to both, in obama's there are few less choices, but it also costs far less. What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?
I really don't know because Obama has not really produced a plan yet. All he has is an outline of what he would like to do. The first mistake Hillary made with her initial plan was in believing that she was smart enough to do it without expert involvement. The first plan was produced without one medical or insurance person on the planning board. The document was heavy enough to break a coffee table if dropped on it and both parties universally agreed that it made no sense whatsoever. If Obama is going to produce a plan hopefully he will at least learn from these mistakes and produce something that can actually be debated on subject matter..What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?Interesting question.. the answers are like playing "telephone" they range from pretty accurate to completely wrong. Green Pagan nailed it best..

one thing though, Obama's plan would have mandatory aspects to it. It's very similar to what they have in Mass, Children, MUST be covered, else parents face a fine (which is really a drag) ..

further, both rely on making insurance providers adjust their rates and ultimately lower premiums... I hate to say it, but that's liable to be a can of worms and depending on how much cooperation we get from the Insurance industry will have everything to do with how affordable it'll end up being for the population...

The basic difference between the two was that Hillary's plan called for insurance to be mandated, meaning you had to take the government offered plans (there were several choices). Under Obama'a plan he does not mandate the plan. If you wish to keep your current plan you are free to do so.

What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?I don't remember the minor differences because they won't be important in the end - either plan would be changed a lot in negotiations to get it through Congress. I think that Clinton's plan was clearer about mandating coverage for everyone, but that Obama's comes reasonably close. What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?
Obama's plan does not involve any amount of mandatory participation...

Hillary's plan is similar - but she recognized that people who want Insurance companies to rule the day would exploit any loophole you give them... so she required more mandatory participation on the part of all healthcare providers who accept government funds.
the difference is that Obama is the president and Hillary is sucking her thumb, so her plan won't get the same consideration as his plan.

either way, both plans are stupid. What is the different between the Obama health plan and Hillary Clinton's plan?
The difference is that people like Obama more than they like Hillary, and there will be more support put behind him than she ever got when Bill was Pres, back when she started pushing for it.

You know, Obama is the saviour!!!! (Not mine)
don't get that figure in your head because you know damn well that won't be the plan when all said and done. I doubt there will be any plan for health care. You will probably be lucky to have any at all.
You forget, that Bill Clinton was going to fix the healthcare system in the U.S. Remember Hillary was going to "help". How long ago was that? Politicians talk, Come ON!
    Obama's changed everytime he spoke.
there is no difference, they both would have to tax the hell out of us to pay for it.
    they both suck!
The Hillary Bush Swartznager plan is to Criminalize not having Insurance. Anyone without insurance would be arrested and sent to a labor camp.

The Obama plan is to force Medical Professionals to treat everyone under the same threat. They would be arrested and sent to labor camps if they refused to treat someone that could not pay.

Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war?

Isn't arrogant for him to go around Sec of Def Robert Gates and violate the chain of command to speak with his directly generals?

Obama has been spending a great deal of time on Afghanistan as of late. Am I doing a good job anticipating the baseless Republican talking points which are sure to follow?Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war? That was perfect 10/10Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war?
You realize that Bush constantly broke the chane of command, cutting his Sec/Def out of the loop when he spoke with his generals in Iraq? Probably wasn't the best move for the war then either.

Unfortunantly, though, the primary job of the president is to execute the will of the people, and everything I have seen says that less than 1/3 of the nation wants us to keep fighting in Afghanistan.

As a liberal, I must say that I would preferr to avoid war at all times, but as a foreign policy analyst, I must say that a pullout from Afghanistan would be disastrous. The Taliban are more than capable of retaking the nation and have made such deep inroads into an already troubled Pakistan, that I would give even money on the descent of Pakistan into a state of total anarchy were we to let up the pressure in Afghanistan. This would be a terrible threat to international peace and stability due to Pakistan's nuclear stockpiles.Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war?The decision falls to the President - that's why we hired him. And he can't just say, "The Generals told me to so it's not my fault." I wouldn't like to have this one on my plate.

And further, I’m not sure I understand why we’re fighting in Afghanistan. If it’s to capture or kill Bin Laden, sign me up – I’m on board. But preventing a “safe haven” for Al Qaeda makes little sense to me. Their “havens” seem pretty safe right now. They don’t need a country to plan an attack, they only need a tent. None of the 757 suicide pilots trained for 9-11 in Afghanistan – they trained in Denver and at other flight schools. We don’t need to control a whole country to prevent a terror attack, we need intelligence and that needs to be world-wide. I’m not sure I understand.
It was General McChrystal who disobeyed the Chain-of-Command by speaking about his request for more troops. Obama could have fired him through Secretary Gates. Instead, Gates told everyone below the president to keep their mouths shut. That's the proper way. The President is the military's Commander-in-Chief. Truman fired McArthur, ya hear?Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war?Obama is the commander in chief. Is not right to micromanage a war. It is correct however to set the goals of the war.

The goal is as stated by Obama himself. to defeat Al-Queda, dismantle it and rendered incapable of attacking the US and its allies.

If that can be accomplished with the defeat of the Taliban, be it.

If that can be accomplished without the defeat of the Taliban, be it.Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war?
He's not listening to them so who cares? The problem is he's trying to play politics and keep his voters happy. The problem is he's indirectly getting our soldiers killed by not listening. They need support and they need it NOW. I have liked that Obama has talked a good game concerning Afghanistan, yet he continues to not act. He needs to act and stop politicking.
Concentrating? Sorry but he's had a request from General McCrystal for more troops since AUGUST and he's done nothing. Obama has to order more troops to fight and all he's done is state we aren't leaving. That's not dealing with the issue.

He focused on pitching the Olympics instead of dealing with Afghanistan. Look at the facts, dude. Nice rant!Obama has been concentrating on Afghanistan a lot lately. Do we really want a civilian micromanaging the war?
Micromanagement is a misnomer. How can anyone micro manage anything unless it's an assuage meaning they manage very little.

I guess you'd rather have a Dictatorship here in America where the Military rules everything from commerce to the government and the generals are answerable to no one.

It just so happens that our military is answerable to our highest government officials. That's one of the reasons America is a Democracy and not a Republic full of Republicans.
The problem is Obama is an amateur and has no clue what he is doing and his advisors are morons. Add that to the fact he won't even meet with or listen to his generals and then says it will take him weeks to make a decision on startegy makes for a sad situation and more American lives lost.
This really is shaping up to become another Vietnam. Why? Because a Socialist acting as Commander-in-Chief is setting rules of engagement that make it nearly impossible for our troops to win.

The media has failed to talk about the “new” rules of engagement that I first heard about last month when 4 marines died.…

The U.S. troops had to wait more than an hour for attack helicopters to come to their aid and their appeal for artillery fire was rejected, with commanders citing new rules designed to avoid civilian casualties, the report said. o_O
Concentrating? Please. A trip to Demark to push chicago for the Olympics. Letterman, TV? Uh uh...yhr only reason hr's looking at it now is 'cause McKrystaal is spouting off about what he needs.

But youre right about the micro-managing, Just give the General what he wants. He knows a hell of a lot better than a jr senator or career idot Biden. But politics will win out.

    I pity the soldiers.
I do not want Obama micro-manage anything.

Car companies, banks, insurance companies and for heaven sakes certainly not the military.

He is an idiot who has zero practical experience in everything and it shows everyday.
I'm sure we could cut a deal with the Taliban. We leave. You take over. You keep Al Queda out of Afghanistan and dry up the poppy fields. You get zero aid. If we leave and you don't hold up your end of the bargain, we come back and kill every living thing above ground. Deal?
The Obama has always had a deep distrust of the military. Read his books. Bush had the temerity to let the military manage the war. The Obama wants to manage it himself. After all of his experience as a community organizer, why would you question his judgement?
Civilian leadership in the government controls the military. That is the way our U.S. Constitution is written. Ultimate responsibility for the country's strategic decision-making in the hands of the commander in chief and funding from the congress rather than professional military officers.
Huh? He hasn't been "concentrating" on Afghanistan at all!! He was concentrating on socializing health care, then he decided to concentrate on getting the Olympic to his corrupt city. Gen. McChrystal's concerns are just an after-fart for the arrogant commander-in-chief.
The pres is the commander in chief. The issue you are trying to artfully dodge (fabricating lib that you are) is that Obama doesn't even do what his own general tells him.
And, uh I suppose the " professionals' that got us into Iraq did a good job themselves.

Otherwise, I suppose you are correct about the talking points.

This has me thinking back on how Truman had a few meetings with McArthur.
What might Obama add to military discussions? What does he bring to the table that Bush and Clinton didn't? Nothing.

All of them should have deferred to their betters on the subject.
The only time Obama pays attention to the military is when his face is shoved into it.
He will tell you, but he needs another cigarette first.
No he should review it periodically
You mean like Bush,Cheney and Rummy did?
Yes, a Head of State should never interact with the military they control
That is what our founding fathers wanted and it has worked so far. Peace
