So far no states have actually managed to pass any of the eligibility bills, and most are dead in committee as their deadlines for floor discussions have passed. The major reason is that once the states start looking into it, they discover that 1.) most states (including their's) don't actually issue long-form BCs anymore, 2.) other things in the bills are unconstitutional, like parents have to be citizens too, or 3.) the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the US Constitution says that each state has to accept the official records of other states and Hawaii's short form BC is what Hawaii says is their only official birth certificate.



If a bill managed to pass, then President Obama would have to show his certified Hawaiian birth certificate, the same one he posted an image of online.
