This is what the report said when the results of my MRI came back: L5-S1--There is grade 1 anterolisthesis of L5 on S1. There is disc desiccation and vacuum disc phenomenon at this level as well and concentric disc bulge. Very prominent hypertropic changes involve the facets and ligamentum flavum bilaterally. The constellation of findings results in moderate-to-severe central canal stenosis and severe narrowing of the lateral recess and neural foramina bilaterally. Degenerative endplate chages are present at this level. I am only 44 and I have never had any back injuries. I am having numbness in my legs from the knees down and I am losing my coordination as well. Then there is the PAIN! In the last 3 weeks I have had to use a walker to move around. Are there other treatments for this besides surgery? If not how long will it take me to recover from surgery? How long does it take to recover from back surgery?I had my L4-L5 fused about 3 years ago. It takes at least 8 weeks to recover barring no complications. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that you will be 100 percent with no pain. My doctor told me that I would have good days and bad but that the major part of the pain is would leave.
If I overdo it , I get muscle spasms that go into my butt cheeks and tops of my leg and only stretching and bringing the swelling down(cold compresses in the surgery site) will help. How long does it take to recover from back surgery?Herniated disc, here. Between Physical Therapy and minimal exercise (exercise should have been on a regular basis), approximately three years. 11 years later, I still have some discomfort.
Your situation sounds entirely different from mine. I suggest you seek out a Chiropractor and a reputable Acupuncturist. Then hopefully, you will determine whether surgery is imminent or not. GOOD LUCK!How long does it take to recover from back surgery?
