How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?

Obama's plan to boost the economy through increased spending on public works projects is a joke. How many schools will have to be built? We we be replacing all of the schools that were closed due to declining enrollment? How many roads can we build? These are meant to be union jobs. These are the kinds of projects that drain the economy through higher property taxes and road tolls. Who is he kidding? This is a temporary fix and will ultimately leave the taxpayer holding the bag. Thanks but no thanks.

How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?Let me explain: Joe lost his job when the company chose to pay the CEO his 10 million dollar bonus rather than keep a couple of thousand people in a job for another year. He got laid off and is on unemployment. His wife works, but with two young children, they've had to "go on the county" (aka welfare, food stamps, etc). Their consumption of anything but absolute necessities is nill. Now, multiple this by several million and you'll see why the economy is in this mess.

The government puts in public works projects, and he gets a job. They can get off welfare and/or food stamps, they can start paying taxes, and they can buy things other than basic necessities. Now, multiply this buy several million people, watch true discretionary spending increase, and then watch things become much easier.

It's called trickle-up economics, it's the exact opposite of trickle-down economics, and it's the only thing that makes sense in an economy driven by consumption. How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?
It may not be popular with you but it is really a great idea, and there are to many needed road projects to count. A labor study by little known agency called the Department of Labor shows if road repairs met tolerance levels it would great 1.8 to 2.4 million jobs for up to 6 years, and every year they are held off at this rate it increases the future cost by $150 billion. How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?let me first say that i am a conservative.

I agree this is a temporary fix, i do agree that some infrastructure improvement is needed because it will create jobs.

however, there are other ways to do it and obama is not using those ways.

this solution is temporary and has side effects.

what should be done is a tax cut for all classes and lower governemment infrastructure, if you look at FDR's WPA or PWA all they did was dig holes and sit around all day, thats the kind of stuff that will go on under this "infrastructure" things
His plan is a trite, unoriginal piece of crap that is typical of his inexperience and arrogance. He and more than half the country thinks there is magic under his fingernails but we will all soon find out the truth. I just hope there is no irreversible damage.

Crimson: Where exactly is this money coming from to pay all these "millions" of workers you speak of. We have the largest deficit in the world already due to overspending. mishandling of money and greed. Now you want to raise taxes more so we can drive past a constructuion site and see 12 guys standing around smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee making 30 dollars an hours.

You and more than half this country is on crack! How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?I have an equation for predicting the GDP under Obama and I had 2 economists look at it and confirm it is accurate and here it is !

I'll show you the exact equation:

GDP = A x B + 1/2 G T 2

GDP = Gross Domestic Product Under Obama

You take the number of Obama supporters who couldn't name which party runs congress (A), multiplied by the # of supportes who make less than 15k/yr (B), and add 1/2 of the # who can't spell (G), times the average IQ (T) squared. that's how you get the countries estimated Gross GDP under Obama.

Result: Its Zero !!!

Becuase the last number in the equation is zero (IQ)

LOL !!!!! LOL !!!!

How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?
It seems more of a long term fix what he is proposing. Building schools takes time. If there was to be no further spending on education the schools would be a waste of money but no one is saying that. For the long term good of the country we need schools.

Declining school enrollment only affects K-12. Colleges and Universities are a different matter.
If they want to boost the economy, get us back the money they stole from us when they lied about the gas prices. When the oil companies slapped us in the face with the profits earned. There is a lack of discussion about how much money the government made. There is a tax on gasoline. Who is paying for the wars? How is the war being payed? How on earth is Obama's infrastucture plan going to boost the economy?
U R Correct!!

FDR's New Deal did not work. It was WWII that took us out of the depression.

Hyper inflation will rule. Prices will soar. Cost will soar. $5.00 gal. gas, here come us!!

BUY GOLD, BUY SILVER, if you can find it. Demand for Ag has caused shortages.
i dont know, but with the demicrats controling the entire fedrial goverment it will be very amusing. Oboma is not taking my guns! do you now the first thing the notizes did when they got in power? they took away all of the jews guns!!!
You speak the truth. When Roosevelt put such a thing in place, it only prolonged the Depression.

Make-work doesn't boost the economy. Private industry boosts the economy. Hang on...we're in for a bumpy ride.
Right, and who else but illegals would be willing to actually do menial labor?

This infrastructure idea was ok during the depression but it's time for some new ideas!
Worker are on the government payroll, and includes insurance, if you are working now you are the one that is paying.
It won't. It'll run us into the ground.
Oh ye of little faith, If you refuse to be a part of the solution, you're just part of the problem.
Whats your plan?

The plan includes more than infrastructure projects.
