Age of Ursa Minor Constellation?

Does anybody know the approximate age of this constellation? Not the day it was "introduced" by the Greek Astronomer Thales, the year it was basically "born", when all stars of the constellation became present. I have done lots of researching (I need this for a project) and can't find it anywhere! If you find it, you are my SAVIOR! Thanks so much! :)Age of Ursa Minor Constellation? The constellation is an area of the sky containing a lot of stars. These stars each have their own proper motion. So if you went back 10,000 years, many of them would be in different positions than they are now. If you went back a million years, it wouldn't be recognizable at all. A "constellation" only exists because we see patterns in the stars and designate it as such.

The stars are real, but they have no significant relation to each other. Most of the stars you see are hundreds of millions to many billions of years old. In other words, they have been around as individual stars much longer than the grouping we see today.

Imagine a photo of a flock of birds flying. And in that flock, you see a pattern of birds that looks kind of like a weasel to you. You realize, though, that this appearance is very short-lived and two seconds earlier or later, it would probably have not been there at all. Same with the stars, only on a much slower scale.

"Methinks 'tis like a weasel." %26gt;Shakespeare: "Hamlet"Age of Ursa Minor Constellation?
Constellations are just patterns humans see in the random and completely unrelated stars in the night sky.

So there is no one age for a constellation, since the stars that make up a constellation could be hundreds of light years apart and have no relationship or connection.

That's like asking how old the country of France is - not the age of the nation but the age of the people.Age of Ursa Minor Constellation? This constellation is said to have been introduced in the 6th century BC by the Greek astronomer Thales of Miletus, but was certainly already used as a guide by sailors before that. As for when it was "born" you're not going to find that easily available since it was probably before humans were keeping records as stars last a while.Age of Ursa Minor Constellation?
Why do you assume that all the stars of Ursa Minor were born at the same time? There's a pretty good reason why you can't find an answer to this question...there isn't one. Period.Age of Ursa Minor Constellation? The stars of Ursa Minor are unrelated. They aren't even an association, the way much of the Big Dipper is.

The classical constellations generally date back to the Babylonians. If you really want to see when this came together, you will need to study the proper motion of the stars to determine when they started to look like a small box with a curved tail/handle.
