For starters, the missle defense system is marginal at best.....it does not work. The balastic trajectory and the speeds involved have not been overcome. I am not against the research but the system does not work.
Secondly, the host nations of the missle sites are being squeezed hard from Russia. These countries need natural gas from them.
Thirdly, Its not a good idea to rekindle the cold war when our national resources and military are stretched to thier limits.
It is not 1980. I do not totally trust Russia, but sometimes a step back can be in the right direction.
